Affiliate Disclosure

How Hearth & Hush is paid

Hearth & Hush is a free-to-read, ad-free site. We pay our hosting bills, our software, and our time through affiliate commissions. When you click a link on this site to a product at one of our partner retailers and go on to buy something, the retailer pays us a small percentage of the purchase price. You pay nothing extra. The product costs the same as it would if you’d typed the retailer’s name into Google.

That commission, when it arrives, ranges from around 3% (most Amazon purchases) to roughly 8% (some premium home retailers). It’s how every cosy-home blog, large or small, stays online.

Where you’ll see affiliate links

Most of our posts contain affiliate links — particularly our edits, roundups, and buying guides. We disclose this with a clear notice at the top of every monetised post:

This edit contains affiliate links. If you buy through one, Hearth & Hush may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. We only feature pieces we genuinely love.

Where we discuss a product without an affiliate link, you can assume either (a) the retailer doesn’t run an affiliate programme, or (b) we chose to mention them anyway because they’re genuinely the best option.

Which retailers we partner with

We are part of the following affiliate programmes (this list updates as we join new ones):

  • Awin network: Etsy, Dunelm, The White Company, Cox & Cox, Piglet in Bed, Wayfair UK, John Lewis, Marks & Spencer, Habitat, Garden Trading, OKA, Crocus, Sarah Raven, Yankee Candle UK, and others
  • Amazon Associates UK
  • Skimlinks (an aggregator that handles smaller retailers like H&M Home, Zara Home, and Sostrene Grene where direct programmes don’t exist)

We are not sponsored by any of these retailers, and our editorial choices are not influenced by them. A higher commission rate at one retailer does not mean we’ll preference them over a lower-paying one — we recommend what we’d actually buy.

Our editorial promise

The single line that defines this site:

We will only recommend products we’d buy ourselves.

This means:

  • We won’t include a product just because it pays a high commission
  • We won’t write padding to make a roundup feel longer
  • We will tell you when a cheaper option is genuinely as good as a more expensive one
  • We will tell you when something’s overpriced, dated, or not worth the hype
  • We will say “skip this” alongside “buy this” — that’s the whole point

If a retailer’s commission ever conflicts with our editorial integrity, we’ll drop the partnership before we’ll bend the writing. The site exists because people trust us. That’s the only thing worth protecting.

Amazon Associates required statement

Hearth & Hush is a participant in the Amazon EU Associates Programme, an affiliate advertising programme designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to amazon.co.uk.

How tracking works (the technical bit)

When you click an affiliate link on our site, the link redirects through the affiliate network’s tracking server (e.g. awin1.com) and on to the retailer. The network drops a small cookie on your browser that records which site sent you. If you then make a purchase within the cookie’s lifetime (24 hours for Amazon UK; usually 7-30 days for most other retailers), the network attributes the sale to us and pays us the agreed-upon commission.

We don’t see your name, your address, your card details, or anything else about your purchase — only that a sale happened from somebody who clicked an affiliate link at a particular time.

You can clear these cookies any time from your browser settings, or use a private/incognito tab to browse without them. You can also choose to type the retailer’s name into Google directly rather than clicking our links, which costs us a commission but costs you nothing.
